Building a compelling personal brand... what questions do you have on how to do it?

These days a lot of sellers are looking to build their personal brands — could be through what they create and share on LinkedIn, on YouTube, maybe on a podcast or in a recurring newsletter. The brand-building could be focused around their reputation within the company they work for, or as a consultant (maybe even both.)

On Thurs. November 9th, we’ll be hosting Stephanie Wong for a community roundtable entitled “Sell More By Creating a Personal Brand They’ll Actually Care About.”

RSVP HERE: Databook Connect

Stephanie will be sharing how she developed her personal brand and created all kinds of content that helped her advance her career — and everyone will be able to ask her questions during the roundtable.

So, to get the ball rolling, we are collecting questions here ion the Forum to share in advance with Stephanie. Ask anything in the replies below! We’ll get you the answers.

Hope to see you there on 11/9!

Hey Stephanie, I’m 9 months into my sales career and a personal brand is definitely something that I’ve thought about on multiple occasions.

What did you consider when deciding on a brand that would be true to yourself and beneficial for your career?
What were some of the smaller initial steps you took as you were building your brand?

Building a personal brand often involves a strong online presence. What are some key tips for creating compelling content across social media without losing productivity?

Also, how do you strike the balance between self-promotion and sharing high-value content?

My question is how do you measure the impact of all the effort you’ve put into developing your personal brand? Is there a method to evaluating it both qualitatively and quantitatively?

When I think about a personal brand, I think about a polished persona that may not be very approachable. I like being sincere, helpful, trustworthy, and approachable when working with customers.
My question is, how do we build a personal brand and still stay authentic to who we are and not try to be this perfect persona?
I find that some people new to the workforce think of a personal brand and equate it to their LinkedIn and/or Instagram profiles.

Hi Steph,

As you know, I’ve been following your career over the past 8 years and have watched you become one of the most respected persons in your field, when it comes to personal brand and insightful speaking engagements.

My question to you is: What have been the biggest challenges you’ve faced with branding and re-branding and reinventing yourself, in the various roles that you’ve had?

In today’s day and age, companies are downsizing and looking to do more with less. What is your advice to those who have been affected by downturn? I have many former colleagues who are currently evaluating their options.

Thanks Steph!
